Good fruit

I'm going to take a minute to write about something that's been on my mind lately.

In May, I had the opportunity to see Beth Moore at one of her LPL events. This was probably the single most important thing I've done spiritually. For whatever reason, I can connect extremely well to her messages. It seems as if she's speaking about a topic that was hand-picked just for me (who knows, maybe it was!).

Beth spoke about (among other things) trees bearing like-fruit. If you have a healthy apple tree, planted in good soil, getting good sunlight, receiving enough water -- it's going to bear vibrant, delicious apples. If you have a sickly tree, just sitting in a pot and you never water, plant or take care of it -- it's going to produce rotten apples if it produces anything at all.

She spoke about how looking at the fruit something bears is a good measuring stick for just about anything in life.

Do you have a teenager who wants to stay over at a new friend's house? We can apply this situation to our fruit example. Let your son/daughter spend time with this new friend. If he/she starts becoming defiant and rude, then obviously this new friend is causing him/her to not bear good fruit.

Are you attending a church that is putting other things before the bible? Are you more concerned with the "religion" than with your personal relationship with Jesus? Take a look -- this might not be bearing good fruit. (Think about what your fruit should be in this situation...)

For me, I've been thinking about this situation and Facebook. I think Facebook is starting to bear bad fruit with me. I have been spending too much time looking at other people's lives -- what other people are buying, where other people are going -- and I'm not spending enough time being thankful for the things I have, the places I go and the things I'm doing in my own life. I have started wanting more and more things. I've bought a few things outside of the budget. Not good fruit. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it, but I know something needs done. It's hard to be at home all day, be around my computer and not hop on Facebook several times. It's not going to be easy, but I'm going to have to come up with a solution.

I don't plan on making it a habit of delving into issues like this on here (mostly because I just want this to be a place where you can go and get something for yourself and not have to read about others troubles or worries), but this one has been a tough one for me lately, so I thought I'd share.

I'll leave you with this... thanks Erin for another beautiful design. You are SO talented!!

Welcome Erin, our new guest designer!

Erin Nusbaum is a friend of mine and is a super-talented graphic designer. She is also a Christian and mommy to a beautiful little boy.

It's been a bit overwhelming for me to keep up with daily versus (have you noticed?) in the midst of my son's first birthday. Thankfully, Erin was up the task of creating a few verses for me to keep me going.

By the way, did I mention that Erin is also a fantastic photographer? If you want to see more of her stuff here are some ways to find her:

Enjoy!

Esther 4:14

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

I am so excited you are here.

I wanted to tell you a little about what this blog is and how I hope you will use it.

My goal is that every day I will have another bible verse image on here for you to read. I don't know exactly along which path this will lead us, or if there will end up being other things on this here, but I'm just going to take it one step at a time and see where it leads! I hope that you will pray about the things you read and open your hearts to see if God is using what you're seeing to tell you something. I don't know about you, but he is always showing me things and knitting together His lessons for me. I might read something in the Bible and then two days later hear someone speak about the exact same thing. I love when He is able to reinforce His lessons to me. Sometimes I have a hard time listening the first time around!

This blog is for me to learn as well. I am a Christian who is still growing in her walk. I am eager to learn more. If you're anything like me, sometimes I have good intentions, but I let the busyness of the world and my own little life get in the way of me spending quality time learning from God. For me, this is a fun way to learn and be held accountable.

You should also know that everything on here is free. You have 100% access to all of the images and they're yours to use however you see fit for your own personal use. If you want to print one of the bible verses out and frame it, go ahead! If you want to make it the background to your computer, feel free. If you'd like to print them and give them to people in order to start a conversation about Jesus, I think that's a great idea! There are many, many different ways that you can use these images and I'm excited to hear from you about how you're using them. Please let me know what you're doing by leaving a comment or by emailing me.

If you're going to use these images for professional use, please just ask. Also, please give credit where credit is due... just list this blog as the photo credit if you're going to use the image for professional use.

More than anything, I'm just doing this to help us all learn a little more about the Bible and His Word. These are His words and ultimately these are His images. He gave me the tools and the hands to create them.

Love,
Leslie
